Carl Zeitler (Co-Playwright/Grim Reaper) Carl is excited to be involved in this production. He gives a heap of thanks to his writing partner, Debbi Dennison. He also appreciates working with Julane, Danny, Carolyn, Eric, Julie, and Rhys on this project. Carl wrote the three previous murder mysteries performed at The Range: Tumbleweed Turmoil at the Tombstone Tavern, The Bootleg Bump Off at Ruby's Rum Runner Room, and Beware of the Raven, or Murderous Mayhem on Raven Isle. Carl has been actively wearing a variety of hats at numerous local theatres since 2003. He most recently appeared as Captain Frank Burns in M*A*S*H with Elgin Theatre Company. Carl wrote and directed Relationships in Progress for Gallery Theater this past fall. He served as producer on Frankenstein, And Then There Were None, Death By Chocolate, Smoking Gun, After the End of the World, and Ravenscroft. Carl wrote and directed And Then What? for GreenMan Theatre. Notable onstage roles include Rumors (Lenny), Of Mice and Men (Lennie), Closer (Dan), The House of Yes(Anthony), Barefoot in the Park (Paul), Over the River and Through the Woods (Nick), Much Ado about Nothing (Benedick), and the title roles in Dracula and Macbeth. Carl works as a Reading Specialist with K-5 students in Berwyn and provides endless belly rubs to his Miniature Dachshund, Ginger. Enjoy the show!
Debbi Dennison (Co-Playwright/ Doris/Lola) Debbi is thrilled to be in the fourth murder mystery performed at the Range. She was also seen in the three previous productions: Tumbleweed Turmoil at the Tombstone Tavern(Josie), The Bootleg Bump Off at Ruby's Rum Runner Room (Ruby), and Beware of the Raven, or Murderous Mayhem on Raven Isle (Poltergeist Polly). Debbi is also excited to have partnered with Carl as the writing team of this production. Previously, she has written many short plays for Vex Theatre Company including for the ever popular annual holiday show Twist-a-Carol. On stage, Debbi was recently seen as Margaret Houlihan in Elgin Theatre Company's production of M*A*S*H. Other favorite roles include Noises Off (Belinda/Flavia), Leaving Iowa (Sis), Leading Ladies (Meg) and Ella's Rainbow (Liz). Debbi trained in improv and acting at the Second City Training Center. She has performed with several improv groups including the Time Travelers, CHAOS, and Julie Ostrow and Her Improv Friends. Offstage, she works as a TV Cable Producer and freelance camera person. Rhys Read is happy to play Cupid with this talented cast, as he always considered himself to be somewhat godlike. Rhys most recently appeared as Father Dunbar in James Downing Theatre’s production of The God Committee. He has previously been seen as Vito in A very B…Grady Murder and as Philostrate in A Midsummer Night’s Dream as well as participating in last fall’s Spooky Stories, all at GreenMan Theatre in Elmhurst. Rhys will be performing as Thurston in GreenMan’s upcoming production of Gillian’s Island and also performs improv with the Time Travelers Theatre Ensemble Group in Schaumburg.
Danny Glenn is happy to be a part of this fun-loving murder whodunit “Cupid Must Die”. Last spring Danny played Mr. Jenkins in the British farce “Cash on Delivery” produced by the GreenMan Theatre Troupe in Elmhurst, IL. Besides theatre Danny has been busy working on independent films playing a variety of roles including a police sergeant, wacky doctor, mob boss and even a disgruntled vampire in the old west. Carolyn Larsen is having a great time as the cat-loving Allison. She has previously been seen at The Gallery Theater of West Chicago in The Cemetery Club and Fallen Angels, GreenMan Theater’s Cash on Delivery, Doubtful Abby, Smoking Gun, and Castle. Carolyn is a member of The Mystery Shop Theater. She has also performed with Accent on History. A favorite role was as Ouiser Boudreaux (doesn’t EVERYONE love Ouiser?) in Steel Magnolias. Carolyn lives in Wheaton with her ever-loving, supportive husband, Eric. Her days are spent playing with her three adorable, smart, creative, busy grandsons!
Eric Wang is excited to work with the cast of Cupid Must Die. Since appearing on Jeff Foxworthy's American Bible Challenge game show, he has pursued opportunities in TV, film, and theater. Eric has trained at Acting Studio Chicago, the Green Room Studio, and privately under Jane Brody. He played the role of John in the The Man Who Came to Dinner. Eric assumed multiple roles in the Raven Theater's bi-lingual production of The Inexplicable Pastrana. More recently he played Ho-Jon in Elgin Theatre Company's production of M*A*S*H, where he met Debbi and Carl. He is honored that they have asked him to come aboard Cupid as Mark the homeless man. Some of Eric's more memorable experiences include print work for Walgreens and Groupon, as well as motion capture for the Saints Row video game series. He has been spotted running marathons, riding roller coasters for 10+ hrs., jumping out of planes, baking, writing, dreaming big, and fleeing the country. In his spare time Eric moonlights as a police officer and SWAT team negotiator. He thanks his family and friends for supporting his mildly chaotic life.
Julie Ostrow is tickled bubble gum pink to be a part of “Cupid Must Die” and play with this fantastically talented and funny group of actors. Trained in improv at The Second City, Julie enjoys performing improv in the Chicago area and coaching organizations and businesses how to incorporate improv into their lives. As the Humor, Laughter, and Improv Coach, Julie teaches the art of “Yes, And…” in creating effective brainstorming sessions and being in the present moment in order to truly listen to each other and improve communication skills and build connection. Julie believes in "finding the funny" in daily life and in life’s challenging moments. Through the use of humor and laughter, she demonstrates to audiences how lightening our lives can lead to more joy and ultimately, healing on all levels—physical, emotional, and spiritual. A certified laughter yoga leader, Julie is the First-Ever American Laughing Champion and a contributing author of “The Happiness Recipe…Wit, Wisdom, and Wonderful Food.”
