Audition Notice for
THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR

Shakespeare at the Centre announces auditions for William Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor.  Shakespeare’s domestic comedy tells the tale of Falstaff’s attempt to regain financial status by seducing the wives of two wealthy gentlemen of Windsor and the tricks the wives play on Falstaff to take their revenge. 

The Merry Wives of Windsor will be directed by Toria Hollyn,
with production management by Julane Sullivan.
The Merry Wives of Windsor will run July 24 through August 1, 2020.

AUDITIONS!!!
 Saturday, 18 April 2020 from 3:30-6:30pm
Sunday, 19 April from 6-9pm.
{Callbacks, if needed, will be held Monday, 20 April, beginning at 7 p.m.}

Auditions will be held at:   
All Dressed Up Costumes,
located at the Campana Building
901 N. Batavia Ave, Batavia IL 60510. 

Open auditions will consist of cold readings. 
Audition sides and audition forms will be available at https://www.shakespeareonclark.com/ in mid-March.

The Merry Wives of Windsor will run July 24 through August 1, 2020. 
Rehearsals will begin the last week in May of 2020. 
The first weekend of performances will take place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (July 24-26). 
The second weekend of performances will take place Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (July 30-Aug 1). 
All performances begin at 7:30pm and are staged at Batavia Fine Arts Center, located at 1399 W Wilson St, Batavia.

There is no pay.
Seeking a total of 15 performers; tripling as indicated below. 
All ethnicities welcome, identifying genders and approximate stage ages are listed by character. 

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
Sir John Falstaff. (He/Him/His)(40+)
Knight and former drinking buddy of a young Prince Henry. 
Lovable and portly scoundrel who thinks he can seduce married women to access their husband’s money.
Mistress Alice Ford. (She/Her/Hers)(30s-40s)
Lady of Windsor, known for her virtue. 
Married to Francis Ford.
Mistress Margaret Page. (She/Her/Hers)(40s-50s)
Lady of Windsor and friend to Mistress Ford. 
Married to George Page and mother of Anne and William.
Francis Ford. (He/Him/His)(30s-40s) 
Gentleman of Windsor, known for his jealousy. 
Married to Mistress Alice Ford.
George Page. (He/Him/His)(40s-50s)
Gentleman of Windsor, interested in all sorts of sport. 
Married to Mistress Margaret Page and father of Anne and William.
Sir Hugh Evans. (He/Him/His)(50+) 
Humane Welsh parson and teacher.
Doctor Caius. (He/Him/His)(30s-40s) 
Combative French physician and unsuccessful suitor of Anne Page.
Mistress Quickly. (She/Her/Hers)(25-40) 
Bold and sassy employee of Doctor Caius. 
Knows how to balance use of her intellect and sexuality.
Robert Shallow. (He/Him/His; She/Her/Hers; They/Their/Theirs)(50+) 
Self-righteous country justice.
Abraham Slender. (He/Him/His)(20s-30s)
 Bumbling cousin of Shallow and unsuccessful suitor of Anne Page.
Mistress Anne Page. (She/Her/Hers)(late teens-20s) 
Debutante daughter of the Pages, learning how to spread of her own wings.
Fenton/Nym/Robert. (He/Him/His)(late teens-20s) 
Fenton: High-born gentleman, friend of Prince Henry, and suitor of Anne Page.
Nym: Follower and friend of Falstaff, an honest rogue. 
Robert: Landscaper of the Fords.
Pistol/Rugby/John. (He/Him/His; She/Her/Hers; They/Their/Theirs)(20s-30s) 
Pistol:  Follower and friend of Falstaff, acerbic but noble. 
Rugby: Employee of Doctor Caius, loyal. 
John: Housekeeper of the Fords.
William Page/Robin/Simple. (He/Him/His)(teens)
William: Youngest son of the Pages. 
Robin:  Page of Falstaff, adored by Mistress Page. 
Simple:  Errand boy to Slender.
Host of the Garter Inn. (He/Him/His; She/Her/Hers; They/Their/Theirs)(30+) 
Business owner and busybody.
